Aldolase (fructose-bisphosphate aldolase) is an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible cleavage of fructose 1,6-bisphosphate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. It is a key enzyme in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Aldolase from rabbit muscle is commonly used in research and diagnostic assays.
